Continuing Education around psychoanalytic, psychodynamic and existential psychotherapy, addictions and trauma.
HI, my name is Ella and I am a psychotherapist.
I am educated, experienced and eager to hear your story.
My interests include addictions and other obsessions, including every imaginable way to be messed up around food, regrets about the past, worries about the future, discomfort in relationships and figuring out who you are and why you're here.
I see addictions and eating disorders as coping mechanisms. They once may have worked, provided some sort of safety, until one day they turn on you, stopped working, and made everything only worse.
I have worked for the last few years at Renascent, one of Canada’s leading addiction treatment facilities dealing with all types and severity of addictions, treating the addiction, the personal history and the present stresses that contribute.
People’s stories fascinate me. I love to hear about our experiences, what excites us, what haunts us and what this life has brought to us.

MY PRACTICE
I could go on about myself, but really, I want to know more about you.
Things like...
How was your week?
What do you do all day? all night?
What’s on your mind?
Are you lonely? Are you scared?
What messes you up?
What do you wish you could say no to?
What scares you?
What can’t you let go of?
What do you wish you could hold on to?
Where were you born?
Who raised you?
Do you have a vision of yourself in 5 years? 10 years? What is it?
How do you know you are happy?
Do you judge yourself? How?
Who do you admire?
Who have you hurt?
What is your favourite mistake? What’s your most shameful one?
What do you wish you didn’t know?
What do you wish you knew for sure?
Did you dream last night? What about?
How did you get your name?
What happened to you? What do you do with that?
Do you believe in love? Do you believe God?
What do you want? What do you lack?
What do you wish for your future?
Do you wish you could rewrite the past?
What image can’t you get out of your head?
Who hurt you? How?
What do you love in a healthy way? In an unhealthy way?
What do you say you love but don’t really mean it?
If talking about this stuff interests you, then let’s set up an appointment. If we connect, then let’s start working through it and making sense of it together.
